Oxford, England – The second day of the 2026 annual meeting of the African Pandemic Sciences Collaborative shed light on the endeavors of the EPSILON community. This event served to assess the progress and key achievements of research projects conducted by its seven consortia: SC-GRA, SPIL-OVA, SHARPER, PREPARE, CLEAR-Africa, MosEPIC, and ACCEPT-Africa.
Despite complex initial challenges, significant progress was recorded by each working group. This inaugural year of action lays a solid foundation for the critical phase: the concrete field implementation of projects across member countries.
To achieve the set objectives, strategic communication monitoring is essential. Beyond the simple dissemination of data, communication plays a major political and social role: ensuring the visibility of research actions; countering misinformation, misconceptions, and rumours; and establishing trust to prevent mistrust among local populations.
The union of scientists and communicators is now crucial to build more resilient health systems, around the world.
